3 Easy ways to welcome fall

By  Ali Basye-Featherston

While you may be tempted to hold on to your shorts and deny that a new season is just around the corner (Fall officially starts September 23rd), the change is coming whether you like it or not. Instead of fighting off the shift, welcome it with open arms!

I've put together three easy steps you can take this fall to make the transition of seasons a little smoother.

1) treat yourself to some seasonal decor

This is my first Fall officially owning my place. To help make my surroundings a little cheerier I decided to treat myself to some seasonal items from Lowes. These mums were on sale for a dollar each and the pumpkin was around $5, so for under $10 I was able to transform the front entrance to my home. It's a subtle change that puts a smile on my face every time I walk through the front door.
Making time to do something like redecorate can feel like a waste of time if you choose not to see the value in appreciating your living space. This season decide that the appearance of your home has value to YOU! You are worth the cute flowers and the Lil pumpkin.

2) enjoy some seasonal dishes

When I think of fall, I'm often reminded by the warm cozy foods that accompany it. Making a veggie stew or a roasted squash dish can be a weeknight pick me up! Choose to go with the flow and welcome the chilly weather into your life. Just like you put on sweaters when you're chilly, warm up your tummy with some warm, healthy, comforting foods!

3) plan your week

Fall can often bring a lot of work, but don't shy away from it! You know deep down in your core that you're capable of doing amazing things, so go ahead and embrace the work that lies ahead of you. Instead of making one big long to-do list, try planning and scheduling the activities you need to complete. Acknowledging that everything has a place and time can take a huge load off of your shoulders and help you stay more present. Just working on one activity at a time means that the thing at hand will get your full devoted attention and there's no need for you to let your mind wander to what else you have to accomplish - because you've already planned for it!
What works best for me is to plan out my week ahead on Sunday, or Monday morning. It kick starts my week, helps me stay in the moment, and makes it easier to Crush the activities at hand!
